CUMMINGS STAYING AT CHERRIES
|
| U-TURN: Warren Cummings |
CHERRIES star Warren Cummings has reaffirmed his "100 per cent commitment" to the club after coming off the transfer list.
Cummings appeared to be heading out of Dean Court after being forced to take a pay cut following Cherries' relegation last season.
His existing two-year contract - signed last summer - included provision for him to take a 20 per cent drop in wages if Cherries were to go down.
And he asked for a move last month after he felt it had been "morally wrong" to trigger the clause as relegation would have been avoided but for the 10-point deduction for entering administration.
Cummings, who has missed Cherries' past two friendlies due to illness, confirmed his written transfer request had been withdrawn by "mutual agreement".
And he told the Daily Echo last night: "I still feel as though I was in the right to go on the transfer list and that won't change because it was a matter of principle.
"But for the benefit of the team, the manager and myself, I felt it would be better if we were all channelling our efforts into the start of the new season now.
"My father (Cummings's agent) has been pretty forthright with the manager regarding how I feel I've been treated by the club and the manager has been different class.
"He has my 100 per cent commitment and that would have been the case even if I had stayed on the transfer list."
Cummings was again confined to his sick bed as Cherries completed their pre-season campaign with a 4-0 victory over Eastleigh on Saturday.
"I've been pretty rough for the past few days," added the popular Scotsman. "I had an infection and tonsillitis."
Cummings's removal from the transfer list has placed a question mark over the possibility of former England star Chris Powell joining Cherries.
Bond, who told the Echo that he was "pleased" Cummings had come off the transfer list, added: "Warren's situation possibly has an influence on Chris's and whether him coming off the list means I don't resurrect an interest in Chris remains to be seen."

Good news and well done Warren. Most of us if had been faced with a 20% pay cut would most likely have done the same. Looking forward to Saturday come on the Cherries!

Call me cynical but could this be because the interest that was shown in him from Scotland didn't materialise?
Whilst I’m happy that we wants to stay I feel he has ruined his relationship with the fans and it’s going to take some time to get that back.
What does this mean for Chris Powell? I think he’s a better play than Cummings myself. He’s quicker/fitter, and he’s 38!

Very pleased to see Waren off the list. Perhaps his agent will learn from this when negotiating his contract in the future. No doubt his agent would not have been having forthright discussions had we been promoted and he got a pay rise!!

Great news! I am not cynical about Warren's commitment to the club. Whilst his relationship with the fans may take a little time to repair, I have always thought that Warren had red & black in his blood, so I am sure we will see him giving 100% for the cause this season.
And well done to KB too - clearly he is doing a great job of man management with his players which can only auger well for a united and committed season ahead from them all.

He didn't need to go on the transfer list to make his point! We all understand how he feels about the pay cut! Perhaps he should have come out and said he like to sign for another 2 years - then negociated!

very happy with this news. I still feel chris powell should be signed. He will be usefull as back-up as were likely to get a few injuries in defence at some point. He will still be a great infulence to have around. Anyone else think we should still sign powell?

So no one wanted him then, Bournemouth are not such a bad place are they when you know you are going to be paid and no one else has come in for you, another example of a player thinking he's worth more than the team, let's hope you repay this with a good season.

Bournemouth target Steve Lovell unfourtenly has decided to stay in Scotland after almost joining Bournmouth, What A shame, hears the report i found which again the echo didt get. How hard can it be i found this story with ease on another site you cant even do that let alone find your own storys
'Steve Lovell is on the brink of signing for Falkirk after flying out on the club's trip to Holland.
The 27-year-old striker was released by Aberdeen at the end of last season and looked set to join Bournemouth earlier in the summer.
However, he decided to continue his career in Scotland and is now hopeful of securing a move to Falkirk.
He could make his debut in Wednesday's friendly with SC Cambuur and will look to impress on the three-game tour.
Lovell is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with the Bairns as soon as he agrees personal terms.
Reflecting on his possible move to Bournemouth, Lovell said in the Daily Record: "I started to drive and as I got down the road I knew I couldn't go.
"I turned round. I realised my future was in Scotland.
"I also want to stay in the SPL to prove a point to myself."

Great news. Can we can not afford Powell as well? Garry played left back Saturday. Appreciate you can not judge a player on one outing against lower opposition but did a reasonable job. If Warren is not fit Saturday, wander if Garry will have the opportunity in that position. We do need cover in defence but would have thought priority is for a centre forward

Sorry Warren, but you've messed up big time here. Should have kept your mouth shut in the first place or gone. Instead you made yourself look stupid. And it's clear you're only staying because you've had no interest. Though it would have been nice if Perrett had 'exclusively' asked why he had decided to do a U-turn.

Good news that Cummings is staying, Steve Lovell didn't sign for Falkirk after the tour as expected,. but may well go to Hibs, on the striker front the rumoured move to take Barcham on loan from Spurs would be a good one, is 21 and has a lot of pace, he and Kaffour would be a real handfull up front. The key to our Season is likly to be how lucky we are with injuries, we have the quality - but not much cover. What we need this week is for the FA to reach a decision and one that is not too harsh. Nice one Warren, you have shown the fans how much the club really means to you.Don't think you have anything to prove as it showed at the end of the final game of the season how dissapointed you were at the club being relegated.

Anyone actually go to the Eastleigh game. It was a training exercise and they did enough with goalie and the new centre half looked good.
Yes it was rough and tumble at times, but foul from Cooper would have caught a card if on League fixture.
Big worry to me was too fold. Some of them look overweight and not fit yet.
Also when they got the nippers on for some time in the second half, I was worried , the reserves looked only average to poor-worrying. One of the best parts of the afternoon was announcer saying-"the Bournemouth sub is NO IDEA" It made a very poor crowd of only 500, where did you all go last saturday?
rock with laughter. But come on only a few miles to come and watch first team, poor of you lot.
As for Cummings, will see-Powell may now go-But I would still take a chance on him, and get Sammi Igoe as well, as you will need a lot of nouse in this league.

gmcmahon,
where is the golden share? we shouldnt still be in administration. the proposed new owners said they were the new owners about 2 weeks ago. well that is still not true, you were the first to say so. krasner silent. mostyn silent. the new people said some stuff and we dont know if any of it will happen yet as it hasn't . you were the one being sceptical last week!! embargo is in force. we cannot sign anyone from another club still. special dispensation as otherwise we would not have a team at all, so would have by default not played in the league next season? who knows. i dont see why a relaxing in an embargo is a guarantee of playing next season or coming out of admin??!?!! as said rotherham have been threatened with not starting the season. we have not got any further than them with our application have we?

Good news that Cummings is staying, Steve Lovell didn't sign for Falkirk after the tour as expected,. but may well go to Hibs, on the striker front the rumoured move to take Barcham on loan from Spurs would be a good one, is 21 and has a lot of pace, he and Kaffour would be a real handfull up front. The key to our Season is likly to be how lucky we are with injuries, we have the quality - but not much cover. What we need this week is for the FA to reach a decision and one that is not too harsh. [bold]bold[/bold]
Spot on.It also depends on how we do in our first half dozen fixtures as winning momentum will bring the crowds in and give the team confidence to do well.
Looking around, Wycombe, Gillingham and Shrewsbury could be the dark horses to beware of this season.

onsors, shirt deals, etc etc hardly the goings on of a club that isn't going to start the season. I can't see where you are getting your time scale from, we only put the paperwork the league wanted in 12 days ago, they also then said last week they were working through the same paperwork, so what else can anyone do, the club from what I see is doing everything it can to be ready even the season tickets are now going to be ready so all the news bar the football league looks promising to me, come on let's not get panicking now after all we have been through this year.

I think gMcMahon has a chip on his shoulder about something, you are correct chuffer this guy is an idiot, how on earth do you know there was no interest in him.Give him a break and let him get on with playing his football. Surely if you all pull together and support the team you will have a better chance of getting back into league 1.

As for the insults all that does is make your comments look even worse so enough already.

I have been a fan of his for years I just don't think it's right for a player in one breathe to tell us all how he loves the club and in the next put in the transfer request especially when he knows how bad the finances are. As for calling me an idiot, that just shows you know nothing, and it also shows you don't look at things properly first, so give it a rest. Cummings picked up his ball and tried to run away with it 'cos they havent been fair', but guess what, nobody else wanted to play either!!! If he had had a decent offer he would have gone, he is still here so work it out. Yes, none of us like having our pay cut, but the lesson here is get yourself an agent who can interpret a contract and work out any potential pitfalls and then have the contract rewritten before signing it. The money was obviously the issue, and I also accept the principle of his argument re admin, but nobody has made him a better offer so maybe he is not worth what he thinks he is, having said that I have always liked him as a player.

I'm not knocking the fans, I'm knocking people like you who make up this rubbish, finding any excuse to slag off AFCB players who give 100% in every game. Idiot.
Totaly wrong and totaly unfair I cant remember a time when G McMahon has ever slagged off an AFCB Player even when some have deserved it. The fact of the matter is that Warren signed his contract The Club honoured it. Warren decided he wanted to go now he has changed his mind end of story. I think his Daddy has a lot to answer for

Here here. Couldn't agree more Ross, spot on. Some people can't help but turn good news like this into something negative. Can't wait for Wally to shove everyone's words right down their throats next season.
What are you talking about, he put in the request to leave, he then didn't have any interest from anyone else and then the U turn about staying and you say it's the fault of fans who thought he was wrong for saying he was leaving, as for his performances this season too right he should play well after what he asked to do so he should, he needs to show how loyal he really is, so don't knock the fans they didn't ask him to leave he bought this all on himself.
