‘Town is on the Rhodes to success’
WARM WELCOME: Top chef Gary Rhodes at his new restaurant in Christchurch
WARM WELCOME: Top chef Gary Rhodes at his new restaurant in Christchurch

A RECIPE for success was unveiled at the King's Hotel in Christchurch as Gary Rhodes launched the first of his two restaurants in the town.

Among the plush new settings of the new boutique hotel in Castle Street, formerly The Kings Arms, champagne flowed while visitors admired the luxurious transformation the hotel has gone through since its multi-million pound investment.

And once the Michelin-star award-winning chef was prised from the hotel's sparkling kitchen, the party on Wednesday night really began.

The brasserie style restaurant, which opened yesterday promises a relaxed dining experience where guests can select from yummy sharing plates, appetising mains and exquisite tasting desserts.

Gary said: "I want King's Rhodes to be open, free, warm, welcoming and buzzy. It will be relaxed in a Mediterranean-style way with great menu options for sharing and enjoying.

"It will be good honest food and great service at such amazing value."

The Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr David Flagg, declared Kings Rhodes officially open, saying: "This is a magnificent achievement for Christchurch and is the result of a great deal of hard work.

"We have to thank both Gary Rhodes and the Nicholas Roach Group, who are responsible for the transformation of The Kings and the Christchurch Harbour Hotel, for investing in the town.

"We live in the safest place in the country and are the best coastal town in Britain and now we can say we have all the ingredients for future success."

Great place to go for people who like watching x factor. Gary said: "I want King's Rhodes to be open, free, warm, welcoming and buzzy.

So does this mean the place will be full of flies.

Ah but when will he ever be cooking there except for opening night? Too many Michelin starred chefs think that by putting their name over the door and charging Michelin prices is OK when they hardley ever set foot in the place.

Would have thought a high profile chef like this would have the restaurants website up and running in time for opening. Interested in checking out the details and menu before booking.

It is not just about having your name above the door, Gary Rhodes will have selected only the best chefs to work in his restaurant as he will not want a bad reputation for himself, he would have had a lot of input into the menu & the deisgn of the place, you could say that a chef who is not a celeb but runs a chain of restuarants would not be in them all every night of the week, but that is why even more so they have to chose an excellent team of chefs to keep the place running. Lets not judge the place badly just because gary himself wont be there every night of the week, go and try the food and then pass judgement as I am sure it will be amazing.
